Our Story
The Willing Place was born from a divine encounter during one of the most difficult seasons of my life. Burdened by the weight of childhood sexual abuse, unresolved trauma, and overwhelming circumstances, I found myself desperate to simply talk with someone who did not know me and would not judge me. Unsure of where to turn, I went to a neighborhood that I considered safe and, in desperation, rang the doorbell of a family I had never met.
What happened next would change the trajectory of my life. Nancy opened more than her front door that day. She opened her heart, her home, and her life to me. She listened without judgment, loved without condition, and chose to walk alongside me during a season when I felt alone and broken.
On paper, Nancy and I could not have been more different. She is older than me, comes from a different generation, a different race, and a different life experience. Yet in Christ, those differences became secondary to what united us. We became family. Our relationship stands as a testimony that the love of Christ has the power to bridge divides, heal wounds, and bring people together in ways only God can orchestrate.
That single act of willingness became a turning point in my healing journey. Through Nancy's care, I was connected to counseling for childhood sexual abuse, received life-changing support, and found access to resources that impacted not only my life, but the lives of my son and family members as well.
As I reflected on my own story, I realized something profound: Healing often begins when one person is willing. That sacred moment became the foundation for The Willing Place.
Our prayer is that countless others will experience the same life-changing truth that transformed my story:
When one person is willing to show up, God can begin rewriting generations.
Healing in Community
You Belong Here
At The Willing Place, we believe healing was never meant to happen in isolation. Many survivors have experienced broken relationships, family wounds, and profound loneliness. We are committed to cultivating a Christ-centered community where survivors are not merely served, but truly known, loved, and welcomed as family. We are not simply connecting survivors to services; we are inviting them into family.
